District Brunch- Portland, ME

I love exploring the different local brunch places in Portland.  The funny thing is that I don't normally eat breakfast, but I will always make time for brunch.  I was attracted to the District when I discovered that they have All You Can Eat chicken and waffles!!!  I was a little disappointed with my appetite since I was only able to eat 1 serving, however I did order and extra waffle to take to go.  The chicken and waffles were a great serving size.  It had a nice crispy batter and the chicken was boneless, which made it easier to eat.  The waffles and fresh maple syrup was delicious.

Corn Beef Hash
My friend ordered the corn beef has, which was quite yummy.  This worked out perfectly because we were able to share our dishes.  Stop by for brunch to enjoy the food and nice cozy environment of the District.

1st Thanksgiving Dinner!!! (Portland, ME)

My friends and I decided to attempt in cooking a turkey this year for Thanksgiving.  Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays of the year.  Not only because of the food, but because of all the time spent with friends and family preparing the meal.  It took us about 6 hours to prepare the entire meal which included a turkey, pecan pie, bacon braised green beans, roasted brussels sprouts, mash potatoes, yams, and stuffing.  And everything was made from scratch.  I would have to say that our 1st Thanksgiving dinner was a success!!!

Beijing Pie! - LA area

So my friend heard about Beijing Pie House on the radio, so we decided to check it out. It's located in Monterey Park, CA. They have a lot of the usual Asian food, such as dumplings and noodles (soup and dry). They also have hot pot, but we went for what they are named after, the Beijing Pie! We also ordered other things, but the Beijing Pie was the most memorable.

Beijing Pie! The plate in the back is the order of lamb pie. The plate in the front is filled with pork and green onion.

The inside of the pork and green onion pie. What surprised me was that it was soupy inside! I expected it to be dry, but when I cut it open, all the soup started to leak out. The soup made it extra yummy!

Xiao Long Bao. Not the best. I had better at many other places. There wasn't a lot of soup in these.

I'm not a fan of lamb, but my friend that went with me preferred the pork and green onion pie over the lamb pie.

We also ordered Beijing Noodles, which is similar jajangmein. The noodles are handmade and super doughy, but it was pretty good.

Till next time!
